Our History

Our Story at Pine View Buildings

Growing up working in the fine furniture industry, it never occurred to me that you could get by with being anything less than the best. Customer satisfaction, an unparalleled product offering, a high code of ethics, and an attitude that nothing is impossible came standard.

The challenges of running a high-quality business had always been attractive and so in 1994, our real history began when I founded my own furniture company. Back then, as it is now, my motto was simply to run a business that placed quality of product and customer satisfaction first. Due to a move out-of-state in 2006, we were forced to sell the business, but stayed in the industry and began our first retail store, Countryside Cabinetry (now Countryside Amish Furniture), launching 3 websites to accommodate the various styles of furniture, and selling for dozens of fine furniture manufacturers. In addition, I also began and operated a construction company, building turn-key homes.

In those first few years, we quickly became an industry leader, shipping furniture all over the United States and the world, quickly growing our company and bringing about the need for additional resources to accommodate our sudden growth. In 2009, having a desire to get out and work with my growing boys, I sold Countryside Cabinetry. (A company that still thrives today.)

In 2009, uncertain and yet determined once again to be the best, we entered the storage building industry and began a storage building transportation company. We quickly noticed the lack of quality, lack of attention to detail, and shortage of customer and employee focus in the industry. So we deliberated, prayed, and then took the plunge. Thus in the beginning of 2013, Pine View Buildings was born.

On the morning of January 1, 2013, we were unsure about many things. But there was several things that we are still as sure about as we were on that cold, blistery morning.

We had a vision. 

A vision to start a company that had a goal of producing the highest quality in the industry, a vision of operating a storage building company that had a strong sense of godly principles and ethics in its relations to its employees and its customers. A vision that every customer, that every employee, that every person we come in contact with matters, and should be treated with respect and dignity. A vision to operate a business that would ultimately glorify God in everything it did.

In the beginning, we wanted to have a small family business, however, due to our focused goal of becoming a leader and innovator in our industry, we have now expanded to 4 states and are rapidly growing beyond.

We began with 2 series at the beginning, our Treated Series, and our DuraTemp series. Today our product line has more than doubled, and we’re just beginning. In 2016, one of our major goals saw fruition in the development of our most recent series. We had been desiring for some time to have an alternative to the treated building that had become the industry standard, as the fading problem for this series was not going to get better. After some time in development with a major supplier of barn panels, the Performance series was born, carrying a 10 year no fade warranty, and becoming an instant success! At this time, our Performance series is now outselling our Treated series, and many other manufacturers are now following our leadership in this area.

Ervin Helmuth

Founder/CEO

Coming from a background in construction and cabinetry, Ervin is well accustomed to the culture of quality in everything he accomplishes. His exuberant, passionate nature coupled with the attitude that nothing is impossible brings a sense of direction and purpose to everything he does. When he's not working at Pine View, he enjoys spending time with his family, and also has a special weakness in resisting the lure of fishing.

Freeman Helmuth

COO/CTO

Being the oldest in a family of 10 (no easy chore), Freeman knows the value of hard work done right, and brings it to his duties as a technology and operations officer. His belief is that there's always a better and more efficient way of doing things, and once he's convinced of a fact, he has no fear of saying it. He also firmly believes that anything to do with mechanics, logic, or programming is just plain a lot of fun. When he's not putting in long days at Pine View, he enjoys spending time with friends and family, and thinks that fishing is quite simply the best thing ever.

James Paquette

Sales Director/Office Manager

With his enthusiastic attitude and purpose-driven orientation, James assists with the life-giving energy so often lacking in the office. Having spent over half of his life in Mexico, he moved to the United States in 2011, and recently graduated with his B.S. of Science in Accounting and also has a degree in management and liberal arts. When he's not hard at work, he enjoys playing sports (he says any kind), long-distance biking, or playing one of the six instruments that he plays. He is also the music director at the church that he attends in Statesville, NC where he met his wife and got married just recently. 

Grace Helmuth

Executive Assistant

Born in Michigan, Grace's true heart is in South Dakota where she has lived most recently. At Pine View, she manages the payables in addition to filling the role of Executive Assistant for her uncle Ervin. Her cheerful, relational spirit brings a positive mood to the office that is especially needed on busy workdays. When she's not working at Pine View, she works a lot toward the completion of her degree. She also enjoys any time spent in the great outdoors, and spending quality time with friends and family, especially at the coffee shop or the bookstore. 

Levi Qualls

Sales Processing Specialist

As the Sales Processing Specialist, Levi strives to see that each and every sale is being processed correctly as he works with our network of dealers.  He personally takes on another role in the office as our “director of hilarity” which ensures that everyone's workday is enjoyed with some medicinal laughter.  On Sundays and some evenings throughout the week, he and his wife will be in church to worship the Lord together when services are scheduled. He especially loves to be active with the ministries of the church.  He values time spent with his family, and tries to play a round of golf from time to time.

Gabrielle Dersham

Accounts Receivable Specialist

Gabrielle was a northerner by birth, but became a southerner by choice in 2012 when she moved to Mooresville, NC. She is very energetic and is always willing to accomplish whatever task is set before her. She loves spending time with her friends, family and most of all, her dog Turbo. If you ask her what she values most in life, she would tell you she values family. 

Courtney Strange

Accounting Clerk/Receptionist

Courtney is our accounting clerk/receptionist here at Pine View. She completed her degree in health science from South University last year and will be getting married in the fall of this year. One of Courtney’s favorite things to do is bake for everyone in the office, and so you are most likely to find her ready to hand you a cookie from her newest cookie batch or transfer you to whomever you are seeking. She is originally from Stuart, Florida, but now enjoys her life as a resident of Iredell county. 

Tony Chastain

Production/Dispatching Manager

As our purchasing manager, Tony oversees the diverse products that we buy as well as assisting with new innovations and ideas for our storage buildings. It could easily be said that Tony has mastered the art of the deal through his many years of experience with buying and selling. Tony is a family man that enjoys spending time with wife Erica and his two sons, Dalton and Nathan. He usually can be found cheering on his son at a basketball game, enjoying his horses with his wife, or at an auction somewhere in a town no one has ever heard of. 

Jason Holden

Logistics Manager

In short, Jason handles making sure our products get to where they need to be when they need to be there. Before he married his wife  Deanna, Jason spent some time in Mexico with his family where he learned to speak Spanish. He enjoys spending his time hunting and fishing with his two boys, and when he is not hunting or fishing, he is thinking about hunting or fishing. Jason has spent many years recording gospel music and enjoys singing with his wife and daughters after dinner or at church.  

John White

Sales Associate

Raised right here in Statesville, NC, John knows the community well. Construction experience helps him demonstrate the superiority of Pine View Buildings in both product and craftsmanship to potential customers. John engages our customers with honesty, integrity and apathy, doing all he can to help them meet their needs. When he is not helping customers John enjoys studying the Bible and spending time with his wife and newborn daughter. 

Candice Roberts

Subsidy Manager // Pine View Rentals

Candice is the Subsidy Manager of Pine View Rentals.  Pine View Rentals is a subsidiary company of Pine View Buildings.

Candice is very well versed in the business world with no less than two decades of combined management, forensic and small business accounting experience.  She also recently earned her Master’s Degree from Pfeiffer University. After working for a Fortune 500 company for almost 10 years she came to Pine View Rentals in 2017. She is tuned in and excited to work within Pine View Rentals, and Pine View Buildings to reach awesome goals.  Candice in her spare time is a North Carolina certified EMT-Basic with Iredell County EMS and a volunteer fire fighter with Wilkes Iredell Volunteer Fire Department.  She is currently working on her NC Firefighter certification.  She says that you should never stop learning or striving to improve yourself to help and work with others around you.  What she secretly enjoys though is cooking, real, from scratch cooking.  She says, “When I retire, one day, I want to open my own restaurant.”
